Let IT Snow!
Thursday, January 17, 2008
It's still dark outside though it's after 7:00 am. I have been up for about an hour now, alternating between getting some coffee brewing, and walking across the living room to the corner of the house where the eave lights are bright...to see what's coming down. The weather gurus got it right this time, and it seems like we have had a long spell without snow. But, it is coming down now, and snow fell for most of the night. There is nothing more beautiful than camp in the new fallen snow.
Our kids had a half-day today, and both were hopeful that it would become a full day as they saw the big mass of pink and white approach western North Carolina on the radar screens.
They were so confident last night before they went to bed that Gardner, our fifteen year-old daughter did not practice her C.S. Lewis "declamation" speech that she has been working on for more than a month...one more time in anticipation of its "end of semester" recitation today. It will have to wait until next Tuesday when we return from the break.
We have rounded the corner into 2008, and we are busy with staff hiring. If early indications hold true, we are going to have the best staff and sunmmer ever. There are lots of folks
who have signed up for another summer, and some great new Illahee friends as well. If you know of a college-aged person who would make a great Illahee staff member, let us know. In the meantime, enjoy Illahee in the snow!
