Spring Has Sprung in the Heavenly!

It feels like North Carolina again! Our little corner of North Carolina has one of the highest annual rainfalls in the eastern United States...that is until three years ago when we entered a prolonged dry spell. We have the rain to thank for all those wonderful smells of hemlock and rhododendron that remind you that you are at camp in the Heavenly World...it also helps the paddlers enjoy more options each summer on some of the most beautiful whitewater around.
We have had some wonderful and long rains of late that are bringing us out of the official drought, and making camp look lush and green as spring makes its return to the mountains.
Even better, it's raining at night, allowing us to get camp ship-shape during the day. We've had plenty of time to get leaves up, re-seed some hillsides, trim some trees and work on our exciting swim lake dock project! We have just finished the L dock rebuild, and are moving to the Tarzan platform before building a brand new boardwalk around the bulkhead. No more slipsliding away!
Gretchen and Laurie have been super busy hiring an all-star cast for this summer. Gretchen even spent some time on a downloadable document that will allow you to meet them all!
Don't fret if you don't see your favorite counselor. We still have a few more spots to fill. We have heard from a few of our favorites. Morgan, Laura B and Gina emailed from Spain where they met up for churros con chocolate. Nurse Kendall and the Huguley clan sent us a fun picture from vacation. We are super-excited for this summer. It's going to be the best ever.
