Opening Day

Opening Day at camp is an exciting time as campers meet their counselors and cabinmates. In order for the day to go as smoothly as possible, please arrange for your daughter to arrive between 10:00 a.m. and noon Sunday. Cabin counselors will randomly assign each camper a bed prior to the camper's arrival. Campers enjoy a buffet lunch from 12:45 - 1:30 p.m. and then begin a busy afternoon of activities; quick involvement is a great way to offset initial bouts of homesickness.

For campers who choose to fly, we provide a shuttle service to and from the Asheville airport. Gordon Strayhorn is our travel coordinator; please give his name as the person who will be arranging your child's airport pick-up. In order to simplify departures and avoid confusion, we ask that you prepay unaccompanied minor fees and complete the necessary forms. The ride to and from the Asheville airport is about 30 minutes and your child will be instructed in safety procedures at the airport and prior to each trip. Your child will be involved in activities on Sunday afternoon; please pack a small carry-on bag with a change of clothes, tennis shoes, and a bathing suit.
