Here comes Fall

Things are quiet here. Well, besides the leaf blowers.

Camp is at rest, recovering from a fantastic summer and 105th reunion. Joy was abundant, and we hope and pray that this joy felt at Illahee has stayed with you when you return to those flat-lying cities. Camp is a short-term experience with long-lasting effects, and our 105th reunion reminded us all of that perfectly.

The Poplars and Maples have already started to shed their leaves, with the oaks not far behind. My favorite fall trees at camp, the massive Genkos outside my office, will turn their brilliant gold in a few weeks and lose all their leaves in a matter of days. Fall is a happy time for our family. Brooks is playing travel baseball, and Jasper is starting his potty training (Lord help us). In just a few months, we’ll welcome a baby girl into the world sporting a onesie that reads “Be a Great Baby.” Emma and Lynn are watching Henry while Laurie and Gordon are off on an adventure, and they have enjoyed their nightly fall walks with him.

We’re in the midst of record enrollment and giddily getting excited for summer 2026. Our Staff Application is now live, and we encourage anyone who wants to be part of something bigger than themselves, make a positive difference in the lives of others, and have an absolute blast to apply.

We have just returned from a fantastic gathering in Raleigh, and our team will be visiting Houston, Dallas, Chattanooga, and Nashville in the coming weeks. If you’d like to attend, please reach out!

Until then, we wish your girls a great start to their school year, and remember, you’re never too old to jump in a big old pile of leaves.

peace,

Lucas
